Id love to see these recipes be available to work with Facebook Messenger... so I could have my personal bot assistant message me things based on recipes. I think that would be super useful!
Linden Tibbets

@bentossell thanks Ben! FB Messenger and bots would be an awesome way to use IFTTT Applets. Hopefully will have good news about this in the future!

@ltibbets @bentossell This is really awesome. We're also planning to experiment with IFTTT for our helpdesk platform which is along the same lines of assisting facilitate better conversations between customers and businesses through recipes!

Every day we get 100s of requests to make IFTTT do more, multiple actions, conditionals, etc. We've always believed that we could make something more powerful AND easier to use. Applets allow a broader audience to turn on new experiences for any of the services they use. They also allow those ready for something more powerful than a just a recipe to access those tools via our Partner Platform and bring what they've built back to that broader audience on IFTTT. If you are ready to take the plunge and build Applets beyond if this then that, check out our Partner Platform: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/ifttt-partner-platform We are incredibly proud of Applets and the new IFTTT. We hope you enjoy! Would love to hear your feedback and will iterate and improve ASAP. Applets are just the beginning of an entirely new stage for our company. We believe that everyone deserves the confidence to control their world and that the services we use should work together!

@ltibbets Hi again from Waterloo, met you through Nabil when you were here! Thanks for moving towards multiple actions from a trigger, it's a godsend as my condo becomes a mishmash of multiple smart bulb manufacturers' products. With the assistant channel I was having to say "turn on my lights" followed by :turn on my other lights" whenever I came home.
Linden Tibbets
Maker
@thatmattgardner hello Matt! Good to hear you dig it. We will be following up with even more soon. which different set of lights do you have?
Matt Gardner
@ltibbets Wemo wall switches, Hue overhead, and some Wemo plugs into lights. I think when you and Nabil came over the lights switched off because I'd messed up the recipe with my August lock :p My ideal combo would probably have me coming home turn on my wemo and hue lights, set my thermostat, turn on a tv, and cast something or play music (I know cast isn't playing ball yet, but a man can dream).
Mike Brevoort
@ltibbets So happy to see you are recycling the term "Applet". It's time to make Applets cool again 🤓. Looks awesome BTW.

@thatmattgardner one day! ok good to know, will see if we can make that all happen.

It's likely never been a better time for a service like IFTTT as tech is increasingly connected, from fridges to cars. What emerging platform are you most excited about, @ltibbets? I'm particularly interested in how audio interfaces with people and things, through Airpods, Alexa, Google Home, etc.
Linden Tibbets
Maker
@rrhoover Thanks! Alexa, Google Home and Airpods (which i think are distinctly under hyped) are big new platforms at the very beginning of their lifecycles. Whats going to be fun is that LOTS of products are going to be using voice and the big question is are they all just going to be one platform or can multiple or perhaps even many voice platforms be supported at once. Would love to see a future where you weren't stuck with just one platform, but could unlock all of the data/capabilities attached to every service you use with ANY platform, voice or not. Also, two products I can't wait to try out right now: Loop https://www.producthunt.com/posts/loop and 01 https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/01-world-s-first-dimensioning-instrument--2/x/7968831#/

Awesome work. I use IFTTT for different workflows. It is a really powerful platform and saves me a lot of time! Crazy to see all the new Applets! Would like to know how do you handle security issues?
Linden Tibbets
Maker
@toomaime thank you and awesome to hear you are saving good time with IFTTT. We of course take security very seriously: encrypting important information in transit and at rest, we also work hard on the people side with the right processes and policies.

LOVE IT!!!

My first impression is negative: it feels like there is now less information on the screen at a time and it is harder to read recipes/applets due to the increased line breaks. It looks like usability was sacrificed for a pretty interface. I find the menu UI pattern confusing, the current page looks deactivated. I can't figure out how to turn on new services/discover available services. I can't figure out how to create a new applet. I love IFTTT but this feels like a major step back.
Linden Tibbets
Maker
@theleovogel thank you for the feedback! especially on the web we are working to fix some of these issues and make things much easier to navigate!
Smokie
@theleovogel I feel the same way in a lot of ways. @ltibbets, where would be the best place to give some detailed feedback on the UX?
Leo
@xtoq @ltibbets Smokie, please email me your detailed feedback as well: leo@leovogel.com - I'd like to see what your ideas are.
Linden Tibbets
Maker
@theleovogel @xtoq @leovogel happy to hear both of your feedback, much appreciated! Could you email me at my first name at ifttt.com ?
Smokie
@ltibbets I can and will totally do that! Big project due the next 2-3 days, so it might not be until the weekend. Do I need to put anything special in the subject line to avoid the spam folder? @theleovogel @leovogel I can share with you as well, but after I share it with Linden. I hate being that complainer that doesn't give feedback to the source first!
Linden Tibbets
Maker
@xtoq thank you, looking forward to it. Shouldn't need a special subject, let me know if you don't hear back in a few days after you send :)

I love the recipes but the new Applets looks awesome !! IFTTT user since several , I use many different recipes so I will definitely try the new update. Great job IFTTT Team 🎉👏 Also, the new design is so beautiful 😍
Gavin McFarland
Looking great. I'm enjoying the new design, seems much quicker to create "an applet". Your servers must be taking a beating though because it's slowing down for me now and some pages aren't loading. My favourite new addition is the Google Assistant channel. :D @ltibbets do you know if improvements are being made to the channels as well? One channel in particular has never been reliable for me which is the Tado channel. Recipes fail to trigger most of the time. I did contact you about it but I never heard a reply (but I get you are busy).
Linden Tibbets
Maker
@sevenupcan Great to hear it! we are working the slowness now :) Channels are going to get lots of updates over the next few months. I would suggest you let Tado know about the issues directly and we can work with them to fix!
Gavin McFarland
@ltibbets thanks, I'll get in touch with them. Some feedback regarding the way you manage your applets. The way it's currently displayed by channel makes it really hard for me to manage my applets. I much preferred it when I could just see all my recipes all in one place. Also it would be handy to be able to create an applet from a specific service when I'm on that service's home page instead of having to go "New Applet" and then look for the service again. Thanks for listening.
Linden Tibbets
Maker
@sevenupcan awesome feedback, much appreciated. Will see what we can do to fix!

I love IFTTT... especially with the recipes that work with Siri which I now use with my apple watch, iPhone 7 and even my macbook pro thanks to Siri integration with the new MacOS. It's incredible what we can do now without any programming.
Linden Tibbets
Maker
@paisano rad! Thank you. You should definitely checkout Alexa Google Assistant services on IFTTT as well.
Paisano
@ltibbets Thanks will do. I had a question. While trying to enable Trello service and Siri for Trello I get the screen with the OK button to authorize and when I click it the screen goes away without any errors but whenever I check it again it asks to enable and authorize again as if I never did it before. It also does not show up under applets or anywhere else. I just want to setup siri with trello now... and slack too. What can I do?
Linden Tibbets
Maker
@paisano You'll have to send me either a link or a screenshot! I would suggest getting in touch with support@ifttt.com and we can give you a hand! just about any integration with Siri is a bit of a work around right now.

OK, so recipes are now applets, and channels are now services. Looks good, makes sense. Only thing is, why can't I make a new applet with multiple actions from a trigger? Seems like it's possible here: https://ifttt.com/applets/L6LwpRVX-tell-alexa-to-lock-up-at-night This functionality isn't in the make an applet yet? I had hoped that on the final step I'd get an option to finish or add another action. Also, I'm confused by the "Want to build richer applets" CTA, I thought for sure that would be to unlock the new functionality, but from what I can tell it's just a developer zone? Either way, seems like you guys know that people want multiple triggers/actions. Looking forward to making my own recipes... errr applets with the new functionality.
Linden Tibbets
Maker
@ryanmarr thanks Ryan! We've got multiple actions and more on our partner platform and we are working to open it up more broadly to individuals. We've started with our partner services first, but we know that individuals are hungry for more powerful Applets as well!
Abhilash Jain

If IFTTT could trigger Workflow recipes, I could do everything.
Linden Tibbets
Maker
@tyjayo we have Workflow on IFTTT, but may not support what you are after yet. Let them know! https://ifttt.com/workflow
Tyler James Young
@ltibbets Unless I'm missing something, I can only go one direction (trigger IFTTT recipes from Workflow). What I want is for a Workflow I make to be the "That", not the "This".
Adrian Rubin
This application looks very plausible and looks like it could increase productivity greatly.

What about different actions for different Twitter accounts?
